Welcome to the Kubernetes migration adventure! Buckle up, devs you’re about to level up your deployment game. It might feel like you’re stepping into uncharted territory, but trust us there will definitely be charts involved, the view gets better from here. Think of this as the start of a journey where your apps get a first-class ticket to scalability and efficiency. Let’s get rolling!
Create a system overview
Section titled “Create a system overview”Migrating to kubernetes means that there needs to be a shared understanding how the system works. In general, it is a good idea to have a diagram of the system containing the following information:
- The applications in the system.
- The data stores in the system. For example a database or NFS share.
- The external systems, which use or are used by the system.
- The interaction between the components in the diagram including the type of protocol that is used.
- A box that surrounds the components of your system and creates a border to external system. This makes it clear what components are in scope for the migration.
This diagram is a good medium to discuss the kubernetes migration with other people who are less familiar with your system.
